Google’s experimental search surely adds value to your search experience with nice experiments like Alternate views, Keyword suggestions and keyboard shortcuts. The catch is that you can join only one experiment at a time (which is understandable)

I use the Keyword Suggestions experiment (2^nd on) Google Experimental search page. The cool feature of this experiment is that it automatically gives alternative suggestions with the competition stats as shown in the screenshot below as you type in the Google’s search bar. This feature is also available on Google Labs as Google Suggest.

So the next time you jump on to Google Keyword suggestion tool for keyword research, spend some time also with the experimental search for some nice niche ideas and alternate suggestions.

Blogger and Wordpress are undoubtedly the most popular blogging platforms. I know that the major portion of the blogging community is in favor including me of wordpress self hosted blogs, but I would like to post some advantages of Blogger blogs over wordpress self hosted blogs.

1. Blogger is Free: Blogger is absolutely free and you will never have to think about the hosting or server bills. Since blogger is also hosted on Google’s servers, you have zero down-time and also no need to worry about the server crashes. Also you don’t have to worry about version upgrades and security.

2. Ability to use your domain name with Blogger: This is the single biggest advantage of using your own domain name with Blogger platform. So you can still use blogger as your personal or niche blog and redirect it to your domain.

3. Google’s bias for Blogger: There is a slight bias for Blogger blogs in terms of Google search engine rankings, as blogger tends to rank higher and get indexed much faster than the wordpress self hosted blogs. I use blogger to setup small niche blogs with a custom template and with some good backlinks, they achieve good rankings really fast (example: Most of the high ranking “Bridal flowers blogs” are on Blogger platform with custom template).

4. Blogger’s Simple Interface: Blogger definitely has the simplest interface so that any one with some on screen instructions can start blogging with no need to worry about FTP, downloading themes, plugins etc. It is all simple drag and drop on Blogger.

5. Post by Email feature: I know that Blogger does not allow you to schedule your posts but the post by email feature is really cool & you blog post is live just by sending an email (You can also set up an auto blog on Blogger with this feature which can be discussed later.)
