Google Chrome’s Market share not looking good

Thu, Oct 9, 2008

Google Products

Dlpage_lgGoogle’s open source browser, Chrome which was released a month back is showing a declining trend in the userbase according to tracking service Net Applications. Google Chrome market share was at a peak when the browser was at it’s peak at 1.16% on September 4 and now after a month Chrome’s market share seems to be stabilized at 0.7% after initial download rush from Google lovers.

Google Chrome’s forte is faster javascript execution, tabs isolation and it’s minimalistic approach for a browser.

Also there have been speculations about how Chrome will handles privacy and the ownership of content.

It is also true that this is too eraly to decide on the market share as we have only a month’s data for analysis. Most firefox users are not willing to migrate to Google Chrome until Chrome starts supporting all the plugins and extensions that Firefox has to offer.

Yes you said is right it won’t be that much eaay to shift form Firefox to Chrome in a short span of time of just chrome released one month ago and also all are liking chrome for its fast loading of pages I experienced that it loads slowly when you clean all its cache everyday with Ccleaner.

Hi Venkat, and thanks for your comment. It is tough to make the change to Firefox. I think if Google comes up with more plugins and extensions as Firefox offers it users it will be great. Firefox also has an advantage of a huge developing community behind them.

I think google chrome has some drawback as comaprison to window’s IE.Moreover it is a slow explorer.

    Thanks for sharing your knowledge

I’d complete the switch if Chrome supported better zoom feature (like one in Firefox 3) and middle-mouse button for scrolling.

  11. Tom Says:

To be honest I never really liked Firefox for some reason, so found testing and ultimately switching to chrome from IE quite easy.

I think in time Chrome’s share will begin to grow again, i think in 18 months time chrome will have about 15-20% market share.

I think that the only way Google will ever hit the %ages is if they can get some sweet exclusivity deals with computer manufacturers, because still the overwhelming majority of people will just use what comes with there PC, which almost always is IE
